UzType is a small Windows program for Uzbek typing. It does three things: (1) auto-corrects apostrophe letters (oʻ, gʻ) as you type; (2) cleans finished text in one click and converts between Latin and Cyrillic; (3) brings every apostrophe variant in your text to a single correct standard — ʻ (U+02BB). The result: fast, correct Uzbek typing without changing your keyboard.
The first version (v0.1) will be free for personal use. Our philosophy is simple: the core function — correct typing — should be open to everyone. Paid plans with extra features for teams and corporate clients may appear later, but the core trio stays free.
No. That’s the core idea of UzType: your English (US) layout stays exactly where it is. You type as before — the program corrects letters in the background. No new key positions to memorize, no “special mode” to switch into.
Entirely on your computer. UzType is built local-first: all analysis and corrections run in a local engine, nothing is sent to the internet. The program works even offline. We don’t see your texts, don’t store them, don’t share them with anyone — technically impossible.
Almost every Windows program: Microsoft Word, browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), Telegram, Notepad, code editors and more. The program works at system level, so no per-app setup is needed. Some games and specially protected programs may have limitations — the Hybrid mode covers those cases.
Because it’s the correct standard. The tutuq mark of the Uzbek Latin alphabet is registered in Unicode precisely as U+02BB. The plain apostrophe most people use is actually an English punctuation mark — it can’t be found by search, confuses sorting, breaks when copied. Using the correct character guarantees your texts will keep working correctly in the future.
v0.1 is in active development now. It’s too early to name an exact date — we rank a “working” version above a “fast” one. The most reliable path: leave your email in the waitlist on this page. We’ll notify you first and send the download link.
Not yet — v0.1 is Windows-only. But it’s the third stage of the roadmap: macOS and Linux versions are planned. The program is written in Rust, so porting to other systems is straightforward. Join the waitlist so you don’t miss the launch news.
No. UzType is a native Rust program: in the background it takes less than 30 MB of memory and barely uses the CPU. It activates only when you type — the rest of the time it waits. Laptop battery impact is negligible.
The current focus is Uzbek. The engine architecture allows adding other languages, but each language needs its own rules and tests. The next languages will be chosen based on user requests.
